Metabolomics plays a critical role across these themes by enabling a dynamic understanding of health and disease states, translating biological complexity into meaningful diagnostics and targeted therapeutic strategies.

The Role of Metabolomics in Precision Medicine & Omics Integration

As the biochemical layer most closely tied to phenotype, metabolomics enables researchers to move beyond genomics and transcriptomics to understand functional biology in real time.

Metabolon supports biotech and pharmaceutical innovators by:

  • Revealing metabolic pathways driving disease mechanisms
  • Identifying novel biomarkers for efficacy, safety, and response
  • Supporting target validation and mechanism-of-action studies
  • Enhancing patient stratification and companion diagnostics
  • Enabling early detection and progression monitoring

Metabolomics plays a critical role in reducing development risk, accelerating timelines, and maximizing translational insight from discovery through clinical trials.

Meet Metabolon’s Team at BiotechX Europe 2025

Kieran Jones, Strategic Account Manager, International.

With a scientific background in immunology and clinical development, he spent several years in pharma and CDMO roles at UCB and Lonza before transitioning into commercial. At Metabolon, he helps biopharma partners integrate metabolomics into their drug development, clinical, and manufacturing programs to accelerate decision-making and biomarker-driven strategy.

Joe Foster, Director of Strategic Products.

With 15+ years of bioinformatics expertise across genomics, proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics, Joe currently the roadmap for the Integrated Bioinformatics Platform (IBP)and develops Bioinformatics Professional Services to accelerate insights through scalable multiomics solutions. Formerly with Affymetrix, Thermo Fisher, and DNAnexus, Joe is passionate about advancing the idea that multiomics without metabolomics only scratches the surface of biological complexity.

With a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Cambridge and the European Bioinformatics Institute, Joe combines a strong scientific foundation with a practical, results-oriented approach to integrating metabolomics data into the broader multiomics landscape.

Joseph McGinley, Senior Bioinformatician.

With seven years of experience applying bioinformatics methods to answer biological questions. Joseph is a member of Metabolon’s bioinformatics team and currently works on the development of Metabolon’s visualization platform along with providing bioinformatics support for internal research initiatives.
