Step 1: Study Design
Leveraging experience from over 15,000 projects, our early study design guidance ensures your study is well-powered, controlled, and aligned with your research objectives. We collaborate to design research questions that detect key metabolic changes, considering sample types, time-points, doses, and phenotypic/disease severity.
Step 2: Sample Collection
The Metabolon Study Success Sample Handling Kit, provided free with your metabolomics study, gives you all the tools you need to send your samples to our lab stress-free. Samples are then logged into our customized laboratory information management system to ensure traceability, quality, and fast turnaround and stored in temperature-controlled freezers with backup generators until they are ready for processing.
Step 3: Advanced Mass Spectrometry Data Generation
Metabolon's Global Discovery Panel identifies more unique metabolites than any other metabolomics platform. Samples are tested and analyzed using precise UHPLC-MS/MS methods, producing an extensive amount of data. All systems are operated in a strictly controlled, ISO 9001-certified environment to guarantee high-quality, reproducible results.
Step 4: Data Curation and Metabolite Identification
Our proprietary software analyzes all raw data generated by our platform, utilizing A.I. to remove noise, perform peak integration and retention time alignment to deliver high-quality features. Then, our chemocentric approach rapidly identifies metabolites by querying our reference library comprised of spectra from authentic chemical standards ensuring higher statistical power for your study. Redundant features are removed, and identified metabolites are added to the client deliverables for further statistical analyses.
