Live Webinar: Metabolomics: Applications in Gut-Brain Axis Research

Join Metabolon, the global leader in metabolomics, to discuss applications related to the gut-brain axis, focusing on case studies.

A deep dive into case studies across different microbiome and neurological research areas, and a discussion about how metabolomics paves the way for clinically relevant interventions.

You Will Learn:

How Metabolomics aids in Gut-Brain Axis research through:

  • Enhancing Drug Development, in small molecule and biologics
  • Assessing phenotypic response in biological systems
  • Identifying targets for therapeutic intervention
  • Extracting value from multi-omics research
  • Informing bioprocesses for optimized performance and outcome

Heino Heyman, Ph.D.

Heino Heyman has been involved in Metabolomics for more than 10 years, starting in 2010 he worked on implementing metabolomics to develop quicker ways of finding active ingredients in natural products and better approaches of understanding hardy crops. In 2015 he joined the Integrative Omics team at Pacific Northwest National Lab, WA where he worked in the metabolomics group. Here he continued to apply metabolomics in several different fields, including human, microbial, plant, and soil metabolomics.

After his postdoc, he transitioned into the industry and joined Bruker Scientific, as a metabolomics applications specialist. At Bruker, he was prominent in promoting and showcasing solutions for customers using high-end ion-mobility mass spectrometry instrumentation addressing critical metabolomics problems. At the end of 2020, he joined Metabolon as a metabolomics application specialist to be involved in Metabolon’s leading metabolomics service and to get closer to the translational science that metabolomics informs.

Alfonse Gonnella

Alfonse Gonnella holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Seton Hall University, laying the foundation for his extensive career in the biosciences industry. With a strong scientific background, Alfonse began his professional journey with Agilent Technologies, where he represented the company in selling cutting-edge gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry equipment and software. He later transitioned to Thermo Fisher as a Biosciences Account Manager, overseeing brands such as Gibco, Invitrogen, and Applied Biosystems. During this time, Alfonse developed a deep understanding of the biosciences market and forged lasting relationships with key customers. From there, Alfonse worked with Nexcelom Biosciences (now Revvity) to cover the New York and New Jersey region selling cell enumeration and analysis systems.

Currently, Alfonse serves as a Business Development Representative for Metabolon, entrusted with covering both academic and industrial customers in New York and New Jersey. With his strong technical background, he thrives in forging strategic partnerships and driving business growth in the dynamic world of metabolomics.
