Metabolon is excited to exhibit at the ARVO 2024 Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington.

The theme of the 2024 Annual Meeting addresses how vision research is continually being transformed by new information and technologies. Exponentially expanding computing power is giving rise to improved artificial intelligence and powerful big data. Increasingly sensitive and elegant molecular techniques, including CRISPR and mRNA technologies, as well as more sophisticated imaging modalities, virtual reality, and breakthroughs in gene therapy are catalyzing our research as we aim to treat, cure and ultimately prevent blinding eye diseases.

Metabolomics can be used to analyze the small molecules present in eye tissues and fluids to uncover biochemical changes linked to various ocular conditions. By profiling the metabolome of the eye, researchers can gain insights into the metabolic pathways that are altered in disease such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts. One of the key advantages of metabolomics is its ability to provide a snapshot of the physiological state of the eye at a given time.
