Metabolomics & Lipid Profiling of Skin
Tuesday, November 14, 2017
Presented by Dr. Fanny Teng, PhD
Senior Study Director, Metabolon
Skin is the largest organ of the human body and provides the first line of defense against environmental exposure, including pollutants and microorganisms. Skin also carries out essential roles such as regulating body temperature, permitting sensations, and reflecting internal health status. These roles are accomplished by the complex structure of skin including dermis, epidermis, and sebum, and these matrices are composed of metabolites, which are the building blocks that ultimately contribute to the important functions of skin. Tools for deeply profiling metabolites are paramount to deciphering skin biology to advance basic research, therapeutics and skincare products.
In this webinar, Dr. Teng will discuss Metabolon’s service offerings pertaining to skin research, including our global metabolomics profiling, complex lipid panel, sebum lipid panel, and stratum corneum lipid panel. You will also learn how metabolomics can be applied in basic research for understanding skin conditions, cosmetics product development, and biomarker discovery for drug target engagement, among many possible applications.
