METABOLON APPOINTS NEW VP OF MARKETING

EXPANDS SERVICE OFFERINGS

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (October 8, 2007) – Metabolon, Inc., the leader in metabolomics-driven biomarker discovery, announced today the appointment of Don Rose as Vice President of Marketing.

Dr. Rose is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic vision for Metabolon's biomarker discovery services business.  Don has worked in the life sciences tools and technology industry for over 20 years and brings a wide range of product development, technology commercialization, and strategic marketing experience.  Dr. Rose's experience includes senior marketing and product development positions at Hewlett-Packard, Glaxo, and Cartesian Technologies.  Most recently, Don led the commerical development for several life science start-ups in his role as CEO of Heleos Advisors.

As part of this increased marketing effort, Metabolon is expanding their biomarker discovery service offerings. "Metabolon is the established leader in biochemical profiling for critical drug development areas such as toxicology and mechanism of action," said John Ryals, president and CEO of Metabolon.  "We intend to leverage this leadership position by expanding into areas such as bioprocessing."  Metabolon has initiated a number of relations with biopharmaceutical companies by providing biochemical profiling to optimize bioreactors for protein drug production.  "Using our metabolomics approach, biopharma clients have been able to rapidly optimize production conditions," commented Tim Germann, vice president of sales.  "By seeing the complete biochemical profile of the cell line, they can quickly pinpoint areas for optimization, and save months of development time."
