National Director of Sales - Commercial

Metabolon is seeking a Manager or Director currently working within the life science area, namely the pharmaceutical sector. The Director of Sales will be responsible for managing a team of three key account managers, with potential of 5 before years’ end, in the US, two key account managers and two contract reps in Europe as well as distributor relationships in Europe and Asia, namely Japan, focusing on growing the Metabolomics services business. Customers and prospects include: Large Pharma, Biotech, Diagnostic, and Consumer companies and academic institutions in Europe and Asia. This position will have significant impact on company growth as this sector represents the highest margin business unit.  
It is preferred that this position be based in Durham, NC, however consideration for the right candidate will be given in the Boston, MA area.  This position reports to the SVP of Sales and Marketing  
Specific Duties
  • Working with minimum supervision to manage, coach, develop direct reports.
  • Work with marketing to develop sector specific marketing campaigns, collateral and execution strategies with existing and potential customers.

Study Director - Consumer Health & Nutrition

As part of Metabolon’s increasing commercial operations, Metabolon is seeking a Study Director to be an integral member of our Project Management team. The successful candidate will have a strong publication record and excellent communication skills to execute all phases of a scientific research study preferably in the areas of nutrition and/or dermatology.


The Study Director is responsible for coordinating and analyzing study data for research projects within Metabolon’s Consumer Business. Clients include companies active in pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, sports science, skin/hair care and green chemistry, academics and government agencies. Specifically, this involves study design, result interpretation and reporting. The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with clients from initial inquiry through study design, to reporting of preliminary results and delivery of the final report.
• Incorporate data into biological context and a broader understanding.
• Prepare and deliver data presentations and written final reports for clients.
• Prioritize projects and ensure consistency of projects with expected timelines and deliverables. • Communicate and manage client expectations.
• Collaborate with commercial investigators to grow our existing base of customers and future studies.
• Effectively publish research studies and make external presentations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Sales and Marketing team members while communicating Metabolon’s scientific utility to prospective and active clients.
